Job Description

The Engineering Assistant Discipline Specific UG will be responsible to assist the Foreman and Artisan providing Engineering services and support in the assigned areas through effective maintenance and installation of equipment for achievement of production performance levels.

Roles and responsibilities include the below:

  • Good House keeping
  • Material & workshop machinery & equipment control
  • Loading, dispatching material & equipment to work sites
  • Provides assistance to all trades (Artisans) with activities within and without the team.
  • Ensure tool availability
  • Ensure that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
  • Communication to artisans any unexpected problems
  • Effective two-way communication with team members
  • Help operational employees to maintain equipment in area of responsibility
  • Accompany artisan when inspecting and completing tasks
  • Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices
  • Report any safety related issues to the artisan or full-time safety rep

The role is at a B2 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman/Artisan.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Math and Science
  • Internal – IDC to develop individual through AET, NCOR, NTC1
  • Artsan Trade certificate will be advantageous

Experience

  • Underground mining experience will be advantageous

  • Communication in English
