Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Pretoria to perform detailed designs and calculations for reinforced concrete and structural steel for international projects. You will assist with Revit modelling and support project teams across disciplines.

With a minimum of 4 years' experience and a B.Eng, you will lead small design projects, liaise with clients and contractors, attend design and site meetings, and ensure delivery meets safety and engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Solid knowledge of structural analysis software (Tekla, Etabs, Robot, Idea Statica); Revit a plus.
• Experience leading small design projects and estimating design timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for concrete and steel systems.
• Assist with Revit modelling when required.
• Take responsibility for structural design and drawings.
• Be part of a project team and liaise with other professionals and contractors.
• Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections.
• Manage less complicated projects and ensure safety and integrity in documentation.
• Promote compliance with engineering standards and internal procedures.

Job Description

Here is what you will be doing:

• Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for structural systems in commercial and industrial fields for both reinforced concrete and structural steel type structures.
• When required assist with Revit modelling.
• Take responsibility for structural design and drawings.
• Be part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members and contractors.
• Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections.
• Manage less complicated projects
• Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
• Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities.
• Work will mostly be on international projects.

Qualifications

Here is what we are looking for:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of structural analysis software like Tekla Structural Designer / Etabs / Robot / Idea Statica, etc.
• Revit Structures knowledge will be advantageous.
• Must have experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings.
• Finite element design of concrete structures, specifically flat slab design.
• Some experience in leading small design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates.
• B.Eng. Degree
• M.Eng. Degree preferable
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction
• Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
• Good planning and organizational skills
