Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in Centurion. The role emphasizes concept and detailed design, interfacing with civil/structural disciplines, and delivering compliant engineering solutions within a hybrid work model.

With a minimum of 4 years in a consulting engineering environment, you will support and lead junior engineers, perform design calculations, and ensure quality and safety standards on client projects within a global infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• BEng/BTech in Mechanical engineering
• Registered with ECSA as candidate
• Minimum 4+ years experience in a consulting engineering environment
• Proficiency in Loadest; Carrier heat / Equal load estimating programmes; including Revit
• Personal attributes: Independent worker, deadline orientated, committed and driven individual, able to lead and support a professional team.

Responsibilities

• Developing concept and detailed designs
• Preparation of technical documentation and reports
• Interfacing of designs with other disciplines e.g. civil, structural and architectural
• Use of international and local design standards and codes of practice
• Interfacing with suppliers of mechanical equipment
• Quality assurance (factory and site)
• Safety and environment
• Liaison with clients and other consultants
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established procedures
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures
• Identifies discrepancies in results
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
