We’re looking for an experienced Engineer: Boilers to provide competent and cost-effective maintenance and engineering support, service, advice, solutions, and techniques to maximize boiler performance safely and in compliance with legal standards.

As an Engineer: Boilers, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining standards to enhance boiler plant and equipment reliability and safe operation
  • Conducting failure analysis of plant and equipment according to plant standards, identifying probable root causes, and ensuring close-out
  • Inspecting the internal condition of boilers during shutdowns in relation to the AIA to obtain a COC after modifications and repairs
  • Managing boiler inspection reports and repair data books
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager with long-term maintenance planning, budgeting, CAPEX, and project execution
  • Providing weekly feedback on boiler performance, unresolved engineering issues, monthly project reports, investigations, and status updates
  • Supporting ISO9000, ISO14001, ISO50001, and OHSAS18000 standards for engineering; educating the team on requirements and monitoring adherence to standards, policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Participating in the development of safe work procedures, performing critical task analysis, and guiding the team on proper isolation and lockout procedures during maintenance

Qualifications and experience we seek:

  • At least 5 years of experience with boilers and turbines
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is advantageous
  • NQF level 7 Engineering Qualification (BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering)
  • GCC (Factories) certification or permission to write will be advantageous
  • Management Development Programme (MDP) or relevant management qualification is advantageous
