Engine Test Technician

Airport City - Cape Town

Salary :

R20 000 – R35 000 CTC per month

Qualifications and Experience (Non-negotiable) :

• Diploma / BTech in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering.
• 2-5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in compiling test instructions and procedures.
• Experience in engine testing.
• Proficiency in Catman software, data acquisition, test procedures, CAD software, and Siemens NX.
• Experience with lab testing software and environments.

Beneficial Skills and Experience :

• Knowledge of software such as Excel and Python.
• Automotive industry experience is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and testing techniques.
• Data analysis and programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in aerospace or automotive industries (2-3 years preferred).

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI), including measuring temperature, strain, wiring, and data acquisition.
• Perform engine testing.
• Write detailed reports on testing outcomes.

Design and Analysis :

• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance.

System Integration :

• Understand mechanical, electrical, and software system integration within the powerplant.
• Assist in developing system tests.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of system issues.
• Manage data acquisition systems for engine and flight platforms.

Manufacturing and Production :

• Understand manufacturing processes and tolerances.
• Work with manufacturing teams to ensure design manufacturability.
• Develop manufacturing documentation and work instructions.

System Oversight :

• Support engineering in maintaining system configurations during development.
• Collaborate on system integrity and performance.
