Introduction

The role involves identifying, assessing, and investigating potential breaches of the JSE Listings Requirements, taking appropriate action under the Financial Markets Act, and maintaining the reputation of the JSE as a credible, well-regulated exchange. The analyst will enforce Listings Requirements through disciplinary tools to achieve regulatory objectives, deter non-compliance, and uphold high standards of conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage processes by compiling detailed, accurate, and structured correspondence.
  2. Conduct fair and objective investigations of alleged breaches, adhering to Admin Law and the Financial Markets Act.
  3. Enforce sanctions, objections, and appeals, and communicate complex arguments confidently.
  4. Review legal opinions to ensure regulatory integrity.
  5. Maintain meticulous records of investigation communications.
  6. Identify inefficiencies and obstacles to process or outcome achievement.
  7. Conduct investigations into breaches of IFRS and take appropriate actions.
  8. Enforce compliance within the JSE listed environment.
  9. Participate in the censure and objections process fairly and thoroughly.
  10. Contribute to the Issuer Regulation business plan and activities.
  11. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders and regulated parties.
  12. Develop and nurture collaborative relationships with external experts and regulatory bodies.
  13. Enhance personal capabilities and stay updated on relevant legislation and Listings Requirements.
  14. Display professionalism and adhere to technical standards.
  15. Contribute to continuous improvement through research and development of investigation frameworks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Registration with SAICA.
  • Postgraduate studies in IFRS (advantageous).
  • 3-5 years post-articles experience in financial reporting or analysis of financial statements.
  • Experience in a technical department of an audit firm or forensic auditing.
  • Knowledge of Listings Requirements (preferable).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of capital markets and the Financial Markets Act.
  • Understanding of IFRS, board processes, and administrative decisions.
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
