Function and Business Unit: Central Services Unit, PPC

The People, Performance and Culture (PPC) Business Unit of KPMG SA is responsible for providing specialist Human Resources and Learning services to maximise efficiency and support the business objectives and strategy.

Description Of The Role And Purpose Of The Job

Collaborating and assisting with the execution of Employee Relations (ER) matters while ensuring firm wide compliance to relevant Labour Laws and HR policies and procedures. Administering and maintaining the Colleague Handbook, People Policies and employment contract templates. Providing advice to the Functional HR teams on ER matters, including the My Performance Plan (MPP) process.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Draft warning letters
  • Draft charge sheets for hearings
  • File ER documentation as required in the International Standard of Quality Management control
  • Prepare documentation to assist the ER Lead to complete the related International Standard of Quality Management control



  • Assist with International Standard of Quality Management and Quality Control Review queries



  • Assist with disciplinary investigations
  • Draft the findings and sanctions for disciplinary enquiries
  • Assist the ER lead to investigate escalated grievances
  • Assist with the logistics for disciplinary hearings
  • Assist with the delivery of top priority ER projects across all functions
  • Assist with the logistics and documentation for incapacity terminations
  • Draft separation and settlement agreements
  • Provide advice and assistance to the HR team on My Performance Plan (MPP) processes
  • Prepare CCMA objection notices
  • Draft suspension notifications
  • Complete the Exco ER reporting
  • Provide expert ER advise to business and the broader PPC team
  • Provide ER training to the interns, HR team and business

People Policies



  • Custodian of the South Africa Colleague Handbook



  • Custodian of the Southern African Colleague Handbook
  • Review and amend People Policies as required
  • Custodian of the Disciplinary code
  • Prepare documentation for new proposed or changed policies for presentation to People Council and Exco
  • Assist to compile the documentation for the relevant International Standard of Quality Management control
  • Assist with International Standard of Quality Management and Quality Control Review queries

Third Party Contracting (TP)



  • Custodian of the Third-Party Contracting process document
  • Provide oversight to the Third-Party tracker and the accuracy and reliability thereof
  • Provide advice on the Third-Party contracting process to the HR team and business
  • Assist in resolving Third-Party contracting queries
  • Assist to compile the documentation for the relevant International Standard of Quality Management controls
  • Assist with International Standard of Quality Management and Quality Control Review queries

Employment Letter templates

  • Custodian of the employment letter templates repository
  • Drafting and amending employment letters as required
  • Provide advice on contracting queries to the experience and grad recruitment teams
  • Draft Partner appointment letters for review by the ER lead

Skills

Skills and attributes required for the role:

  • Good understanding of the South African Labour Laws and relevant case law
  • Good grasp of technology

  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience in a professional services firm
