The opportunity

As the Associate Director of Employee Relations at EY, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing workplace dynamics across the organization. Your responsibilities include championing employee representation, leading disciplinary, incapacity, and grievance procedures, and providing institutional support for various employment relations initiatives. Your strategic leadership will promote a culture of respect and inclusivity while managing complex employment challenges. You will contribute to developing policies and practices aligned with EY's values and mission, making strategic contributions that impact organizational success, including transformative initiatives and talent management processes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure HR policies comply with labor legislation to maintain a constructive workplace.
  • Advise employees and management on labor law compliance and internal policies.
  • Implement measures to reduce labor disputes.
  • Manage disciplinary, incapacity, and grievance procedures systematically.
  • Lead acquisitions and operational restructures projects.
  • Represent EY in CCMA cases, including conciliation and arbitration.
  • Oversee internal dispute resolution and labor court cases.
  • Develop and execute Employee Relations plans aligned with the HR Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure EY's adherence to all applicable labor laws.
  • Draft employment agreements, contracts, addendums, and memorandums of agreement.
  • Conduct training to enhance staff understanding of labor relations.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of Employee Relations policies.
  • Maintain a robust governance structure within the Employee Relations Directorate.
  • Lead the employee relations function within Talent.

To Qualify for the Role You Must Have :

  • A bachelor's degree in Labour Law.
  • A master's degree (NQF Level 9) in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, or Law (LLM) is advantageous.
  • Current registration with the Legal Practice Council (LPC) is advantageous.
  • 8 to 10 years of managerial experience in labor relations.
  • Deep understanding of South African labor legislation, collective bargaining frameworks, and conflict resolution mechanisms.
