Job summary

NSA Security Consultants seeks an experienced Embedded Security Manager to be embedded within a client environment in Johannesburg. The role is senior and hands-on, requiring strong leadership, discretion and technical capability across operations, protection and security systems.

You will oversee security operations, coordinate protection resources across multiple sites, manage CCTV/alarms systems, vendor contracts and budgets, and report to client management with proactive risk guidance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' experience in progressively senior security management or operational security roles.
• Experience in tactical environments such as military or police equivalents.
• ISMI CSMP® preferred; ASIS CPP® or comparable qualifications considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day security operations including access control, perimeter protection and surveillance.
• Lead security personnel and coordinate protection and transport functions.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations & Leadership

• Manage day-to-day security operations, access control, perimeter protection and surveillance.
• Lead security personnel and coordinate specialist protection and transport functions.
• Manage rosters, training, performance and operational readiness.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to address vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, emergency plans and incident response procedures.
• Lead incident responses, investigations and reporting.

• Maintain accurate records and ensure relevant regulatory compliance.

Close Protection & Multi-Site Coordination

• Coordinate close protection personnel, drivers and specialist security resources across multiple sites.
• Oversee deployment of protection teams, ensuring appropriate coverage and readiness.
• Coordinate movements, accommodation, transport and related logistics where required.
• Respond to changing security requirements and coordinate alternative arrangements during incidents or disruptions.
• Maintain clear communication between the client, protection personnel, management and service providers.
• Ensure protection activities align with risk assessments and client requirements.

Security Systems, Procurement & Implementation

• Oversee CCTV, alarms, access control and monitoring systems.
• Identify security technology requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Manage procurement and implementation of security systems, from quotations through to installation, testing and handover.
• Manage suppliers, contractors, warranties and service agreements.
• Ensure personnel are appropriately trained on relevant systems.

Budgeting & Financial Management

• Prepare and manage operational and capital security budgets.
• Develop costed proposals for security upgrades, equipment and resources.
• Monitor expenditure and forecast future costs.
• Evaluate supplier proposals for suitability, quality and value.
• Manage ongoing maintenance and equipment replacement requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years' experience in progressively senior security management or operational security roles.
• Previous tactical experience in the military, SAPS or comparable operational environment.
• Valid Grade A PSIRA registration.
• Recognised qualification in Security Management or relevant professional certification.
• ISMI CSMP® preferred; ASIS CPP® or comparable qualifications considered.
• Proven experience coordinating close protection operations and/or security personnel across multiple sites.
• Experience procuring and implementing security systems.
• Practical experience managing budgets, costs, suppliers and contractors.
• Strong knowledge of physical security, risk assessment, emergency planning and incident management.
• Experience managing high-risk or changing operational environments.
• Excellent leadership, communication and reporting skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours and respond to emergencies when required.
• Contactable references and willingness to undergo relevant background and credential checks.

Advantageous Experience

• Corporate, executive protection, high-net-worth, diplomatic or similarly sensitive security experience.
• GSOC/SOC operations or integrated security systems experience.
• Experience managing security for executives, VIPs or high-profile clients.
• Security technology projects, system integrations or automation.
• Developing or reviewing security policies, SOPs, emergency plans or business continuity measures.
