Job summary

CBI-electric Group is seeking a Design Engineer in Electronics to drive embedded electronics design within its multidisciplinary R&D department. You will work on smart breakers, meters, automated test equipment, and protection-related products from concept through testing.

You will design analogue and mixed-signal embedded electronics, simulate and validate designs, prototype and test, and prepare full design documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (NQF level 8).
• 3–5 years’ experience in electronics design, PCB CAD, prototyping.
• Experience with analogue/mixed-signal embedded electronics and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement analogue and mixed-signal embedded electronics for CBi-electric products.
• Perform electrical simulations and analyses to validate designs.
• Conduct testing of prototypes and final products to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare design documentation including BOMs, test reports, and instructions.
• Conduct research for quality improvements and implement corrective actions.
• Understand and apply relevant product standards for certified products.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet scope, budget and quality.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support innovation and manufacturing.
