Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an exceptional High-Performance Cycling Coach for a leading cycling academy in Gauteng. The role focuses on scientifically-backed training, performance analysis, and athlete well-being to prepare cyclists for national and international competition.

You will work with sports scientists, clinicians, and support staff to drive holistic athlete development and oversee recruitment of promising talent. Flexible hours and travel are required.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Sports Science, Coaching, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at elite or high-performance level in cycling.
• Demonstrated success in developing athletes to achieve competitive results.
• In-depth knowledge of biomechanics, physiology, and periodization in endurance sports.
• Proficiency with cycling-specific training software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor individualized high-performance training plans for elite cyclists.
• Conduct performance analysis using data from power meters, heart rate monitors, and other physiological tools.
• Provide expert technical and tactical coaching during training sessions and races.
• Educate athletes on nutrition, recovery strategies, sports psychology, and anti-doping protocols.
• Identify and recruit promising young talent within the cycling community.
• Collaborate with sports scientists, physiotherapists, and medical staff to ensure holistic athlete development.
• Lead and mentor athletes, fostering a positive and disciplined training environment.
• Travel with athletes to national and international competitions, providing on-site coaching and support.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in cycling science, coaching methodologies, and training technologies.
• Contribute to the overall strategic planning and development of the academy's elite programs.
