Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ).

Job description

Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RF) (Pty) Ltd in Somerset West Cape Town

The Electronic Technician will be responsible to facilitate product development / R&D, and production through test and hardware design, facility management, as well as test execution support and data gathering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for manufacturing and assembly of prototype hardware for development projects.
  • Liaise and coordinate with contracted / potential manufacturers and suppliers to manage procurement of components and sub-assemblies.
  • Assembly of prototypes, and electronic hardware according to Safety and QA requirements and make recommendations for improvements and optimisation.
  • Assist with Product and Process Development.
  • Contribute technically to the product design, and review-manufacturing drawings with regard to design for manufacturability (attend meetings, review documentation, etc.).
  • Generate Product Manufacturing Instructions & Work Programs & Review Component Drawings.
  • Participate in FMECA activities/process.
  • Support Test and Evaluation Activities.
  • Assist with the Manufacture of tooling and test items.
  • Design of PCB test and assembly hardware.
  • Data capturing and reporting during assembly and tests.
  • Setup, operation and maintenance of test equipment.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
  • NQF 5 Technical qualifications with trade certificate in Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Diploma in Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering will be advantageous.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in electronic development environment.
  • IPC-A610 Class 2 & 3 PCBA experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience in prototyping & design of electronic hardware.
  • Experience in data capturing and electronic systems testing would be advantageous.
  • High degree of responsibility and discipline.
  • Exposure to Altium designer, Siemens Teamcenter, and SAP advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) in the workplace.
  • Computer literacy, specifically MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Code B Driver’s License advantageous.
