British American Tobacco South Africa has an exciting opportunity for an Electronic Technician in Heidelberg.

The purpose of the Electronic Technician is to provide electro-technical support to production areas, ensuring all machines and peripheral equipment are functioning correctly and in good condition. The job holder will ensure that all production equipment is fully operational, with safety and quality devices in good working order.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
  1. Apply predictive maintenance techniques to identify potential equipment malfunctions and determine corrective actions.
  2. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, components, and equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
  3. Lead and provide electro-technical services to production areas to ensure machine availability throughout shifts.
  4. Coordinate installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing machinery.
  5. Oversee updates to production equipment documentation, software, and drawings.
What are we looking for?
  • National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (mandatory).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a production environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build, modify, and maintain control systems, PLC-based (mandatory).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical control systems.
