Job summary

Valterra Platinum is seeking an Electrician based at Amandelbult Concentrator, Thabazimbi, SA. The role involves maintaining, installing and commissioning electrical components in the concentrator plant, with responsibilities including planning work sequences, addressing defects, safeguarding operations, and guiding subordinates.

Requirements include Grade 12 or N2, and experience in a concentrator plant is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to standby and work overtime.
• Familiar with risk assessment procedures.
• Valid driving license Code 08 is required.
• Basic computer skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Plan sequence execution of work.
• Attend safety meetings and contribute to risk assessments.
• Set tap settings on MV transformers and mini subs.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergencies as required.
• Ensure availability of materials, spares and equipment.
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching to subordinates.

This role is based in Amandelbult Concentrator, Thabazimbi, South Africa

Job Description

The Electrician role maintains, installs and commissions the electrical components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

Roles and responsibilities include the following:

• Plan sequence execution of work
• Report possible defects and plan the action needed to rectify the risk or defect
• Determine and set the appropriate tap settings on MV transformers and mini subs
• Make informed technical decisions
• Stop the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
• Attend and conduct Safety meeting
• Conducts and participate in Risk assessments
• Allocate tasks to subordinates
• Attend to Breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required
• Ensure proper and adequate on the job training and coaching is provided to subordinates

This role is on a C2 level reporting to the Senior Foreman Electrical

• Grade 12 or Technical Trade Specific N2

Experience

• Experience in a concentrator plant environment will be advantageous

Knowledge and Skills

• Must be able to do standby and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid driving license code 08
