Job Description

The responsibilities of the Electrician role include:

• Maintenance of electrical components of machinery, equipment and electrical reticulation systems – Medium Voltage and Low Voltage Systems
• Conducting safety meetings and participating in risk assessments
• Attending to breakdowns and emergencies
• Escalating defects and abnormalities to management
• Support, coach and participate in the training and development of subordinates and apprentices.
• Effective two way open communication with subordinates and line supervisors.
• Oversee Engineering Learners and Artisans and ensuring effective teamwork.
• Report at risk behaviour, incidents and injuries.
• Interacting with other departments.
• Advising defects and abnormalities to appropriate supervisor or manager.

This role is in the Engineering Department and is at a C2 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or N3 Engineering
• Electrical Trade Specific N2
• Section 13 or 26 D Electrician Trade Certificate
• Medium Voltage Certificate advantageous

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as Electrician
• Plant experience advantageous

Additional Information

• Good command of the English language (speak, read and write)
• Basic Computer skills
• Must be able to work shifts, standby and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid Driver’s license - Code 08
