Position Info: Basic Requirements
  • Qualified Artisan – Red Seal Electrician or Electrical Engineering Diploma
  • English / Afrikaans – Read, write, and speak
  • Xhosa (advantageous)
  • Valid driver’s license
Experience
  • 2 – 3 years’ post-qualification experience within an automation electrical assembly environment
  • Comprehensive experience with field wiring of automation facilities, fault finding, panel building, and pneumatics
  • Experience with electrical assembly hand tools, trunking assembly, trunking layout, and labelling
Job Objectives
  • Wire and test panels and facilities using electrical designs to achieve functional completion
  • Support electrical assembly requirements to completion
Main Tasks / Responsibilities
  • Understand the facility's purpose and objectives
  • Read, understand, and transform electrical designs into assembled, functional panels, applying electrical knowledge and wiring practices for optimal wire requirements, routing, signals, noise, communication cables, power, and earthing
  • Identify components correctly for assembly applications
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Control System Engineers to meet facility requirements
  • Communicate confidently with specialist consultants such as design consultants and suppliers
  • Provide detailed feedback on design changes or corrections during and after testing
  • Install facilities on site as required
  • Be willing to work additional hours to meet project milestones
  • Operate within company safety regulations and OSH acts
  • Comply with ISO procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices
