Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join the Mowana team, to be based at Cresta Shopping Centre (JHB). The ideal candidate will be responsible for all electrical maintenance of the centre. The incumbent will expected to complete preventive electrical maintenance, install new electrical equipment, and assist with routine centre electrical maintenance. Furthermore, complete work order records and file all related maintenance paperwork. Assist area staff as required, respond to the maintenance needs of different departments, keep line manager informed.

Electrical maintenance duties

• Check and inspect building to identify electrical maintenance issues or needs as per the schedule.
• Check electrical equipment and notify line manager of defaults.
• Respond promptly to tenant electrical maintenance requirements.
• Respond promptly to duties allocated by the operations or general manager.
• Check all equipment such as air-conditioning plant, standby pumps, sump pump, water tanks, water feature equipment etc.
• Check all electrical equipment along with the operations manager or centre manager.
• Perform a visual check of the electrical distribution boards to ensure no loose wiring, etc and report findings to line manager.
• Operate electrical equipment in accordance with established safety policies and department procedures and ensures compliance with legal regulations.
• Complete regular OSH inspections and update monthly reports as per departmental schedule. Assist line manager to ensure that OSHA requirements are effectively implemented.

Tenant electrical installations

• Perform adhoc quality control checks on tenant electrical installations, during and on completion.

Establish and maintain good relations with tenants

• Maintain regular contact with tenants.
• Report any complaints lodged by tenants to operations or general manager.
• Report urgent matters immediately to the operations or general manager.

Maintain electrical related records

• Track and record repairs and electrical maintenance results as per the schedule.
• Complete work orders, list materials issued and used and file paperwork with appropriate departmental personnel.
• Update equipment maintenance records as appropriate.
• Complete electrical equipment and supply orders as assigned.

Establish and maintaining good working relations with area staff and management

• Attends meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician

Required Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of electrical maintenance functions and safety protocol.
• Able to read and follow blueprints.

Experience

• 2 - 3 years related to maintenance experience.
