Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.

About the YES Initiative

The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

Position: Electrician

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Responsibilities include:

  1. Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring.
  2. Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.
  3. Perform all work in accordance with electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.
  4. Execute plans for electrical wiring to ensure well-functioning lighting, intercom, and electrical systems.
  5. Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
  6. Prevent system breakdowns by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
  7. Perform troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or replace damaged units.

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric qualification
  • Relevant qualification (preferably from a registered TVET college)
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-starter and willingness to learn
  • Punctual and team player
  • Positive mindset and responsible attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Loyalty
  • Age between 18 and 34
  • Must be unemployed and not have participated in the YES programme before
