ROLE DESCRIPTION

Title: Electrical Technician (Heavy current)

Function & Business Unit: Springs Manufacturing, MENAT-SSA BU

Reports to: Electrical Systems Business Partner Springs

Global Level: GL02

Purpose of the role

The Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment in basic condition and extending its lifetime through adequate and cost-effective (preventive/condition-based) maintenance in the plant. He/she is responsible for identifying and eliminating losses/waste, reducing Equipment Breakdowns, executing unplanned and planned downtime, eventually reducing maintenance cost and improving OEE across Operations through leveraging the KWS methodologies, while maintaining the highest standards in Safety and Quality & Food Safety. He/she ensures that the Maintenance Plan for the plant is continuously updated and executed.

The incumbent is expected to carry out any lawful duties assigned. This position is based in the factory and might not be eligible for Locate for Your Day benefits. Limited travel could be required. He/she performs standby duties and work overtime across the factory, which may mean coming in during odd hours.

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Electrical Systems Business Partner
  • Works closely with the PM Coordinator, Maintenance Technicians for Process/Packing, Stores Controller, Packing Engineer, and Process Engineer.
  • Partners with all other Plant/CSL Departments at all levels
  • Supports KWS Centers of Excellence
  • Partners with equipment suppliers

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Environmental, Health and Safety

  • Promotes a Health and Safety culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA, Safety 7 Tours, and Leader-led observation programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety rules, policies & procedures (including legislated requirements).
  • Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings and implements actions to mitigate risks.

Quality and Food Safety

  • Promotes a Food Safety & Quality culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA & Golden 6 Tours.
  • Ensures compliance with all Food Safety & Quality rules, policies & procedures.
  • Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings related to Food Safety & Quality and implements corrective actions.

People

  • Encourages proactive, clear, and transparent communication across departments.
  • Drives capability building for Mechanical Maintenance and Operations.

KWS Support

  • Supports Daily Management Systems (DMS).
  • Ensures execution of Maintenance DMS and drives Reliability Maintenance.
  • Enforces SAP as the single source of truth.

Manufacturing and Operational Efficiency

  • Oversees daily shift operations, ensuring smooth running of utilities and maintenance activities.
  • Supports reliability maintenance and loss elimination initiatives.
  • Uses KWS tools for diagnosing and improving systems.

Preferred Education, Skill & Experience

  • Grade 12 with relevant trade Test (5 years’ experience) or National Diploma/BTech with +2 years FMCG experience.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Results-focused, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and good at planning and decision-making.
  • Effective communicator and team leader.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and manage teams.
  • Knowledge of Electrical reticulation systems, PLC, HMI, SCADA, etc., is advantageous.
