We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to provide technical support to the plant regarding plant optimization, automation, electrical reticulation, and fault diagnosis to maximize plant availability.

As an Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining all PLC, SCADA installations, and Profibus networks; performing system backups
  • Implementing and commissioning electrical and PLC system-related projects and plant modifications
  • Ensuring all modifications and projects conform to mill and safety standards and procedures
  • Optimizing plant performance and control characteristics to maintain high plant availability
  • Reviewing equipment in line with technological advancements and exploring quality products at reduced costs for replacements
  • Fault-finding malfunctions of electrical field devices and system components using electrical drawings and test equipment
  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, and programming a wide variety of industrial electrical equipment
  • Conducting specialized testing on electrical and electronic equipment
  • Possessing specialist knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HV and LV reticulation and protection equipment, power generators, and auxiliary equipment

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant NQF level 6 qualification (National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field)
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
  • Supervisory experience will be considered advantageous
