Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement Quality Management System (QMS): Assist in establishing and executing the project-specific QMS in alignment with ISO 9001, company quality standards, local South African regulations, and client requirements.
- Develop and Enforce Quality Plans: Prepare and implement the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Ensure that quality control procedures are integrated into all phases of the project.
- Conduct On-site Quality Inspections: Monitor and inspect construction activities (civil, electrical, mechanical, BESS installation) to ensure compliance with approved designs, standards, and specifications.
- Control of Materials and Equipment: Review and verify the quality of materials, equipment, and components delivered to the site. Conduct incoming inspections and coordinate with suppliers on quality-related issues.
- Inspection and Testing Coordination: Plan, witness, and document field inspections and tests, such as grounding resistance, insulation resistance, BMS/PCS functionality, and system commissioning.
- Manage Non-conformance Issues: Identify and record non-conformities, coordinate root cause analysis, and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Ensure timely closure of NCRs.
- Document Control and Quality Records: Maintain comprehensive and traceable quality documentation, including test reports, inspection checklists, calibration records, and as-built dossiers for final handover.
- Support Project Audits and Reviews: Facilitate internal and external audits from clients, consultants, or regulatory bodies. Prepare audit responses and ensure implementation of follow-up actions.
- Assist in Final Acceptance and Handover: Work closely with the client, EPC team, and third-party inspectors to prepare for mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and final acceptance inspections.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- ND Electrical Engineering Heavy Current (minimum)
- 5 Years Experience
- BTech/Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Heavy Current
- Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering and Renewables
- Electrical Supervisor / Technician or Electrical Quality Control
- Eskom, substation, over headlines, Transmission, Distribution
- Be able to develop quality control plans/ inspection and test plans (QCP’s/ITPS)
- Check sheets and data packs
- Have the knowledge of quality standards
- Ability to write progress reports
- Be able to do inspection and witness test of electrical (Medium voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) equipment
- Understanding of non-conformity procedures
- Understanding industry standards and specifications
- Ability to review quality documents and data packs
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure while remaining measured
