A reputable chemical manufacturing company based in Kempton Park has a challenging but exciting position for a suitably qualified electrical maintenance supervisor.
Purpose of the job
The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor reports to the E&I Manager and has the primary responsibilities of:
- Being appointed as the OHS Section 8.2 for electrical works on site to ensure all legal and statutory compliance takes place according to the OHS Act, Pressure Equipment Regulations, and General Machinery Regulations.
- Fully understanding the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and ensuring that all legal inspections and risk assessments are carried out, with general safety adhered to across all plants.
- Planning the electrical execution of work as per the maintenance strategies available on the CMMS software (SAP system).
- Planning the execution of work in line with engineering standards, strategies, and asset integrity philosophies for equipment, plant, machinery, and electrical installations.
- Planning the execution of work in compliance with statutory requirements using OEM, RCM, 5Why, and RCA processes to improve plant reliability and availability.
- Planning and managing the execution of annual maintenance shutdowns.
- Organizing electrical personnel (Technicians, Artisans, and Handymen) and materials required to execute work in compliance with statutory requirements and processes to improve plant reliability and availability.
- Leading electrical personnel (Technicians and Mechanics) to ensure compliance with maintenance strategies, legal, and engineering standards to improve plant reliability and availability.
- Controlling the electrical infrastructure, systems, and resources to ensure continuous availability for operational purposes.
- Controlling and maintaining systems of work, plant, and machinery to ensure personnel safety and machinery protection.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering/maintenance management.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with MV/HV systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Emergency Systems (Generators and UPS).
- Experience with Rectifiers or Large Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) is an advantage.
Qualifications

- N6 in Electrical Engineering
- Electrical Red Seal
- Wireman License
- Master Installation Electrician Certification (Advantage)
Technical and supervisory knowledge demonstrated and gained in electrical installations in chemical processing plants. Extensive knowledge of ISO standards, SANS Part 1 and Part 2, and Occupational Health and Safety. SHERQ training, safety work permit training, and knowledge of area classification standards are required. Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Digilex, and knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP as a CMMS) are essential.
Personal Circumstances
Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the company's medical centre. May be required to be on standby.
Salary: RK basic annual salary, highly negotiable depending on experience.
