Job description

ABOUT US :

The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd, has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site with a planned production of up to 8 million tonnes per annum. With approvals in place until 2046, the mine targets high-quality coal, primarily metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE :

We are currently seeking Electrical Shift Engineers to join our growing team. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the Electrical Shift Engineers will primarily supervise trades and engineering activities on-shift to ensure safe and efficient mine operations.

What you will be doing :

  • Overseeing maintenance of equipment to ensure it is fit for purpose and compliant with site and statutory standards.
  • Developing Safety Management System documentation, including Safe Work Instructions and JSAs.
  • Undertaking and directing maintenance activities on shift as needed.
  • Coordinating resources on shift to support the delivery of the daily plan.
  • Submitting shift reports both in writing and orally.
  • Assisting the Undermanager/Deputy in investigating engineering-related incidents or accidents on shift.
  • Mentoring on-shift trades personnel in effective duty performance.
  • Managing attendance, discipline, and performance of on-shift personnel.
  • Promoting training and development of personnel on shift.
  • Taking actions to improve safety and productivity in the mine.
  • Ensuring compliance with site policies and procedures.
  • Leading team meetings and communicating effectively with team members.

ABOUT YOU :

To succeed in this role, you will possess :

  • A relevant engineering qualification (or currently undertaking one) accompanied by an applicable trade certificate.
  • At least 5 years of experience in underground coal mining.
  • Sound knowledge of mining processes and practical knowledge of mining equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of work health and safety legislation in the coal industry.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Sound planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
