We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to handle our client’s Solar project initiative in Johannesburg.

Project Overview:

• Expected start date: August or as soon as possible
• Position type: 1 Year Fixed Term
• Office or Site-Based: based at the office in Midrand, with occasional site visits to DRC during the project
• Project Duration: 1 year
• Salary: R60k – R70k CTC p/m

This role involves developing project plans, ensuring resource availability, and delivering projects on time within budget and scope both in the South African and international markets. The successful candidate should excel in communication, multitasking, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the 1MW PV Solar Farm project from conception to commissioning on behalf of our client based in the DRC, including:
• Coordinating tasks and ensuring project success
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Conducting site visits, assessments, and technical evaluations
• Monitoring project progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices
• Providing training to a team of Junior Engineers

Additional responsibilities include tendering for various power projects, identifying opportunities in the power sector for services to IPPs in South Africa, conducting feasibility studies, site assessments, technical evaluations, and providing technical guidance on equipment selection and design optimization.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management (minimum National Diploma)
• Project Management certification is advantageous
• Registration with a relevant professional body (ECSA, SAIEE, SACPCMP, etc.)
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in project management tools, such as MS Project
• Experience with CAD software for solar system design
• Fluent in English; French is advantageous
