Job Overview

We are seeking an individual with a GCC and 2 years of experience in the FMCG sector for a well-established Food Manufacturer in Durban.

The role involves managing electrical and instrumentation maintenance, supporting general plant maintenance, optimizing processes by initiating equipment improvements, and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance with legislation.
2. Assess risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities, particularly in high-risk areas (high pressure superheated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid).
3. Ensure accurate drawings and documentation are updated with all projects and modifications.
4. Conduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP study.
5. Interface projects / modifications with production.
6. Manage change and modifications.
7. Lead project / modification commissioning when required.
8. Ensure plant personnel are trained to operate new processes / equipment and that SOPs are provided to comply with ModProp process.
9. Identify recurring troublesome equipment / problems and propose and implement alterations / modifications where agreed.
10. Assist maintenance to resolve breakdowns timeously.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Btech / B.Eng. Electrical + Government Certificate of Competency.
• Minimum 2 years' FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines – Electrical / Mechanical / Instrumentation / Civil.
• Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, and National Environmental Legislation.
• Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment.
