Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Minimum Requirements:
  • Essential: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Essential: 2–10 years of experience in engineering design and systems implementation (within built environment, fire protection, or systems integration).
  • Essential: Proficiency in CAD-based design tools and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Essential: Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel locally as required.
  • Beneficial: Strong knowledge of SANS codes related to fire detection and gas suppression.
  • Beneficial: Familiarity with HVAC systems, BMS, and control protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
  • Beneficial: SAQCC, ECSA or PSIRA certification.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed site assessments, feasibility studies, and system audits to determine client-specific fire protection requirements.
  • Design fire detection and gaseous suppression systems (e.g., FM200, Novec 1230, Inergen, COâ) in compliance with national and international codes and standards.
  • Engage with clients to understand technical needs, provide expert guidance, and deliver professional presentations.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, technical documentation, and accurate cost estimates.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams—including CAD designers, technicians, and project managers—to ensure seamless, end-to-end project execution.
  • Stay abreast of evolving fire protection standards, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Support the development of junior staff through mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities.
