Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer to support mining equipment in and around Rustenburg, North West. You will provide on-site technical support, diagnostics, and repairs for electrical and electronic systems, aiming to maximise uptime and performance.

The role requires a National Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least 6 years of field service experience in mining or heavy industrial equipment. Extensive travel to mine sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
• At least 6 years field service or technical support experience in mining or heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems: AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose faults.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and software.
• Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively within North West region.
• Valid driver's license and medical examination clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for electrical and electronic systems on mining equipment.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on electrical components, including motors, generators, control panels, PLCs, and wiring harnesses.
• Install and commission new electrical systems and upgrades on customer equipment.
• Assist customers with operational and maintenance training related to electrical systems.
• Prepare detailed service reports documenting work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Communicate effectively with customers, internal engineering teams, and management to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all company and mine site safety regulations.
• Identify opportunities for service improvements and customer satisfaction.

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing and servicing of heavy-duty mining equipment, is seeking a dedicated Electrical Field Service Engineer to support their operations in and around Rustenburg, North West . This role is essential for providing on-site technical support, diagnostics, and repairs for the complex electrical and electronic systems of our client's mining machinery. You will be the technical expert for customers, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and performance through proactive service and rapid response to breakdowns. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of heavy industrial electrical systems, excellent diagnostic skills, and a customer-focused approach. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, and control systems.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and diagnosing faults.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and software.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the North West region and work flexible hours as required by customer needs.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a medical examination.
