Sappi Cloquet, established in 1898, produces high-quality graphic papers used in premium magazines, catalogs, books, direct mail, and high-end print advertising for the fashion, automotive, and travel industries, as well as specialty papers. Cloquet manufactures Verve, a dissolving pulp used for the textile and home goods markets. Energy-saving and clean water initiatives at Cloquet have gained environmental recognition, aligning with the mill's commitment to sustainability.

Sappi, Cloquet Operations, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Electrical Engineering student for a Co-op position in the Engineering Department. This is a full-time paid co-op opportunity lasting nine months, starting in June 2025 or January 2026.

The co-op engineer will collaborate with Electrical Engineers on tasks within the mill. The role includes:

  1. Initial Training
  2. Learning about and providing CAD drafting services, document management support, under the supervision of the Lead Project Engineer and/or Lead Designer
  3. Duties such as:
  • Providing layout and detailed drawings for Electrical, Instrumentation, and general engineering design using CAD software
  • Supporting document management through distribution, filing, and maintenance of drawings and related documents
  • Completing all required safety training
  • Post-initial training, working with an assigned Engineer
  • Assisting in planning and implementing projects to improve production efficiency
  • Supporting other projects and presentations as needed
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Desirable: experience with Microsoft Access, Project, FrontPage, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Good organizational, planning, and coordination abilities
    • Creativity in presenting documentation through drawings, images, and text
