Job description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer – REF: JW398EX/2025

Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg

Deadline: June 29, 2025

Key Responsibilities
  1. Organise, plan, and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously for effective implementation and tracking. Conduct site investigations, verify existing services, and determine further investigations required to develop design solutions.
  2. Prepare preliminary design reports based on site investigations. Develop detailed designs according to engineering standards. Present reports to senior management and liaise with operations to meet their requirements. Compile Bills of Quantities and project cost estimates.
  3. Initiate contract handover meetings, verify contractual requirements, and compile project tasks and milestones using MS Projects. Track progress and prepare project cash flows and expenditure reports. Ensure projects stay within budget and request additional funding if necessary.
  4. Ensure compliance with OHS and environmental statutory requirements by contractors. Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and report potential issues to the Project Manager. Support mentorship for trainees and bursars.
  5. Communicate project scope and timelines to stakeholders. Manage trainees and bursars to meet project goals within budget and schedule.
Job Requirements: Essential Qualifications and Experience
  1. BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial MV and LV electrical systems, including control and instrumentation.
  3. Experience with design and procurement of pump stations, WWTWs, PRVs, water metering, and telemetry systems.
  4. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley, or Inventor.
  5. Valid driver’s license and own transport.
  6. Experience in engineering/technical roles.
