Job description

Our client in the consulting engineering sector is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer. The role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of municipal and government departments infrastructure projects and will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective delivery.
  • Design and simulate electrical systems using tools like CART, DIgSILENT, and Power Master.
  • Plan and design area/outdoor lighting systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, and tender documents.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and overheads.
  • Administer contracts (GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC).
  • Identify risks and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation and progress reports.

Requirements

  • BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering
  • ECSA Registered (Pr.Eng or [URL Removed]
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years in electrical infrastructure projects (municipal/public sector preferred)
  • Technically skilled in MV/LV systems, substations, lighting, EEDSM, AutoCAD, CART, DIgSILENT
  • Familiarity with GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and coordination abilities
  • Knowledge of local electrical regulations and safety standards
