Job description

Role Purpose
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support on projects, from initial enquiry and tendering through to construction, commissioning, and energisation across all Kirby business units. The role requires an adaptable individual who will collaborate with various sections of the business, with a focus on HV electrical elements of M&E projects. While primarily focusing on M&E installations and projects, the successful candidate will also be part of the transmission and distribution (T&D) engineering team, gaining experience with electrical installations up to 400kV.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for executing various stages of a project, including:

  • Alterations to working drawings
  • Preparation of design drawings for all aspects of High & Low voltage equipment
  • Coordination with the design team, contractors, and in-house project team on technical and commercial issues
  • Creation of installed drawings and O&M manuals
  • Processing requisitions, generating purchase orders, and confirming delivery to site
  • Clarifying queries with the design team via RFI system
  • Attending technical meetings with relevant teams
  • Document control, recording, and transmitting information
  • Preparing method statements and risk assessments
  • Organizing and assessing subcontractor work
  • Conducting quality control inspections and snagging
  • Preparing test packs for system completion records
  • Developing project schedules, material take-offs, and tender schedules
  • Project scheduling
  • Assisting with procurement of materials, equipment, and services
  • Preparing technical documentation for tenders and construction
  • Creating project drawings using AutoCAD
  • Developing project programs with MS Project
  • Preparing wiring schematics for various electrical services
  • Performing lighting and cable sizing calculations
  • Coordinating electrical 'first fix' and 'second fix' activities
  • Assisting with contract variation documentation
  • Supporting system commissioning
  • Ensuring safety and quality standards are met
  • Adhering to building and electrical design standards and regulations
  • Maintaining information security in accordance with Kirby ISMS
