We’re on the lookout for an Engineer: Electrical to provide a safe, cost effective, efficient and comprehensive electrical engineering service and support through-out the Mill. The main objectives are to establish standards, specifications and the enforcement of these standards and specifications.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Management, selection, erection and maintenance of all electrical installations in the mill.
  • Departmental standards, procedures and equipment specifications with respect to maintenance methods, documentation, etc.
  • Liaising with utilities stakeholders (SATS, Eskom, GPO, Municipal Local Council: ABB; SKF etc).
  • Managing contractors, suppliers and consultants ensuring safety and quality of workmanship and timeous completion of tasks and or projects.
  • Driving the use of plant reliability monitoring techniques to ensure proactive maintenance and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Safety, health, environmental and quality management systems, including incident investigations.
  • Short term planning as well as annual shut planning and execution.
  • Budget management and cost control.
  • All related legal compliance.
  • Root cause failure analysis and close outs.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment

OR

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience in leading teams is required
  • SAP MM/PM is required or an advantage
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to make smart decisions
  • Excellent technical problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry would be an advantage
  • Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) would be an advantage
