Electrical Engineer

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic design and independent, professional quality assurance to reduce risks for clients. This role is responsible for planning, designing, and supervising the development of electrical control systems and devices. It also involves problem-solving and testing of equipment to ensure reliability, quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical works.

• Provide strategic design and advice from the outset of projects from an Electrical Engineering perspective.

Operational Functions

Continuous Quality Assurance

• Oversee the quality and accuracy of prototype and design drawings from clients and service providers (designs, plans, as-built drawings).
• Research and advise on best practices in delivery.
• Contribute technical input into project implementation plans and standard contractual documentation.
• Implement occupation/profession-specific quality control during project execution.
• Minimize project costs and enhance value for money while adhering to regulatory standards and quality.
• Stay informed about local statutory regulations and incorporate them into relevant programs.
• Manage project/program schedule and cost control.

Continuous Improvement of Cost, Electrical Engineering, Design, and Estimating Services

• Keep abreast of new developments, technologies, and energy-saving innovations in electrical engineering.
• Collaborate with external engineering firms and associations on documentation, benchmarking, and procedures to improve and save costs.
• Optimize standards, guides, methods, and techniques to utilize resources efficiently.
• Evaluate and identify new initiatives or improved products.
• Investigate problems and recommend solutions.
• Assist in internal audits to ensure standards and procedures are followed.
• Prepare and present reports as needed.
• Apply engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for complex problems.
• Use CAD technology for simulation and design purposes.
• Prepare specifications, proposals, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with construction contractors to ensure electrical works meet standards.
• Collaborate with architects and other designers to ensure safe electrical designs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional accreditation with ECSA required.
• Experience with CAD (REVIT) preferred.
• Familiarity with CIDB & FIPDM standards.
• At least 8 years of post-qualification experience.
• Driver's License code 08.
