Job description

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Draughtsman to join our engineering team in Centurion. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate electrical drawings and technical documentation for a variety of building services projects.
The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant electrical drafting experience, strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, and a sound understanding of electrical building services, SANS standards and municipal requirements.
This position requires an individual who is technically competent, highly organised and able to work independently while meeting project deadlines and maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical drawings for:
  • Electrical reticulation systems
  • Lighting layouts
  • Power layouts
  • Small power and distribution boards
  • Emergency lighting systems
  • Earthing and lightning protection systems
• Produce, update and revise electrical drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Assist Electrical Engineers and Project Managers with technical documentation and drawing revisions.
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable SANS standards, municipal regulations and company quality standards.
• Coordinate electrical drawings with architectural, mechanical, wet services and structural disciplines.
• Interpret engineering and architectural drawings and incorporate relevant information into electrical designs.
• Assist with site inspections and surveys where required.
• Prepare and update as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Maintain accurate drawing registers and ensure drawings are issued according to project requirements.
• Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure drawings are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies and technical coordination issues.
• Assist with multidisciplinary project coordination.
• Travel to project sites within South Africa when required.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Electrical Draughting qualification or certification.
• 3–5 years' relevant electrical drafting experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Sound understanding of electrical building services.
• Knowledge of applicable SANS regulations and standards.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from engineering and architectural drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel within South Africa when required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working on commercial, industrial and residential building projects.
• Knowledge and experience with municipal electrical submissions.
• Experience with BIM coordination.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Exposure to backup power systems, solar PV and generator installations.
• Experience with electrical building services design and documentation.
