Position Overview

Siemens Electrification and Automation seeks a skilled Electrical Designer / Draftsman to join our team. You will collaborate with clients and engineers to determine project specifications, design wiring blueprints, and oversee electrical system installation and construction.

Responsibilities

Work with the engineering team to create or modify electrical drawings for customer approval and manufacturing, including:

Single line diagrams
General Arrangement Layout
Nameplate schedules
Electrical schematics
Wiring diagrams

Analyze diagrams and sketches of Siemens MV switchgear and protection schemes to design cost-effective solutions that meet customer expectations.

Use software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or Engineering Base to prepare accurate drawing packages.

Conduct quality audits to ensure technical and procedural accuracy of drawings transferred to manufacturing and customers.

Leverage electrical CAD knowledge to improve project efficiency and process workflows.

Take ownership of project design as a technical leader and support manufacturing to ensure fidelity to customer designs.

Lead initiatives to improve team processes and tools for better efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Electrical Engineering or Drafting qualification.
4-8 years’ experience in electrical design, configuration, and power distribution products/systems.
Proficiency in electrical CAD software, protection & control technologies, and understanding of relevant standards (IEC, SANS, LV wiring).
Experience with medium voltage switchgear, especially Siemens, is preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, and multitasking skills.
