Siemens Electrification and Automation is seeking a skilled electrical designer / draftsman to join our company.

Responsibilities of the Role

1. Work with engineering project team to create / modify all electrical drawings for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear and control panels.
2. Typical drawings include:
1. Single line diagrams
2. General Arrangement Layout
3. Nameplate schedule
4. Electrical schematics
5. Wiring diagrams

You'll make an impact by:

1. Analyzing single line diagram and control schematic sketches of Siemens MV switchgear products along with associated protection schemes and thus, designing appropriate product solutions to meet the customers' expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.
2. Utilizing the AUTOCAD / EPLAN / Engineering Base software to prepare drawing packages with a high degree of accuracy.
3. Initiating effective quality audits in both technical and procedural aspects to ensure high precision drawings are transferred to manufacturing facility and customer.
4. Utilizing knowledge of various electrical CAD software to complete project work and drive efficiency with process improvements.
5. Being a technical project leader taking full ownership of the overall project design.
6. Providing support during the manufacturing of respective projects to ensure the final deliverable is true to the customer design.
7. Leading efforts to improve team processes and tools to drive up overall team efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Electrical Engineering qualification and/or draftsman qualification.
2. 4 - 8 years of proven experience working with the design/configuration of electrical power distribution products and systems.
3. 4 - 8 years of Electrical CAD design/drafting experience in protection & control or engineering.
4. Strong working knowledge of standard protection & control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products with willingness to share this knowledge with others.
5. Ability to analyze customer's technical specifications regarding the application of protection & control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers' expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.
6. Ability to read, understand and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
7. Interest and experience in leading quality audits in both technical and procedural aspects of electrical drawing packages to drive high precision outputs to manufacturing facility and customer.
8. Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done on time and with high quality.
9. Ability to multitask and manage large workloads.
10. Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Proven ability to create, convert & modify drawings with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or Engineering Base software.
2. Familiarity with IEC and SANS standards for MV Switchgear.
3. Familiarity with LV wiring standards.
4. Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear especially Siemens Switchgear.
5. Experience working with AutoCAD or Engineering Base.
6. Experience in process improvement of drawing creation and revision.
