Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Electrical Design Technician to support its engineering team in Upington. You will translate concepts into detailed drawings and schematics for electrical systems, working closely with Electrical Engineers on design, documentation, and verification.

Ideal candidates will have a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, 2–5 years of drafting experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent is required.
• 2–5 years of experience as an Electrical Design Technician or Drafter.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, components and systems.
• Strong technical drawing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD software.
• Assist engineers in selecting electrical components and materials based on project specifications.
• Prepare BOM, technical datasheets, and assembly instructions.
• Perform basic electrical calculations and simulations under senior engineers' guidance.
• Support testing and verification of electrical designs, documenting results and feedback.

Key Responsibilities
