- Support the development and optimisation of technical infrastructure and processes for electrical design.
- Execute preliminary and detailed electrical designs for renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar PV, Storage, PtX).
- Design components including :
- Substations (Primary and Secondary Plant)
- Power lines and collector networks
- Protection schemes and control systems
- Provide electrical design inputs for grid planning and Eskom grid connection applications (CEL to BQ and beyond).
- Collaborate with project development and engineering teams for complete system integration.
Design Documentation & Reporting
- Develop and maintain a database of electrical design documentation, including :
- Drawings, diagrams, reports, and Bills of Quantities
- Cost estimates and design calculations
- Standards and specifications
- Regularly report on project design progress, highlighting deviations and providing solutions.
Knowledge Sharing & Technical Decision-Making
- Contribute to internal knowledge management processes and team workshops.
- Make design-related decisions within the scope of authority and escalate where required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Registered as a Candidate Engineer (ECSA)
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant professional experience in electrical design for infrastructure or energy projects
Exposure to :
- Power system analysis (load flow, fault level)
- Design of substations, power lines, and electrical plants
- Secondary plant (Protection, Telecomm, Metering, Control)
- Eskom grid connection applications and processes
- Local grid codes and interconnection standards
