Responsibilities

Our client in the consulting engineering industry is seeking a qualified and driven Electrical Design Engineer who is registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer. The ideal candidate will have strong mining industry experience, particularly in Bulk Material Handling (BMH) systems, and must be proficient in electrical design, engineering software, and project execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Design and development of electrical systems for mining and bulk material handling projects.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (SANS, IEC, etc.).
• Perform load studies, power distribution designs, and electrical calculations.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, civil, and automation engineers.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to validate designs and provide technical support.
• Contribute to project planning, timelines, and cost estimation.
• Provide input during commissioning and startup phases.
  
  

Requirements

• Must have BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• Must be registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng)
• Must have 5-10 years of experience in the mining sector, particularly in bulk material handling.
• Proficiency in ETAP or E-TABS and strong Excel skills (including power queries, pivot tables, formulas)
• Experience with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of SANS/IEC electrical standards and mining regulations.
