Job summary

A global engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will engage in detailed electrical engineering designs, ensuring adherence to project specifications and industry standards. Qualifications

• 3+ years' postgraduate experience in a similar position.
• South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Cape Town based.
• ECSA Professional Engineer registration advantageous.

• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of SANS and international design codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed electrical engineering designs and power system calculations.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop electrical drawings.
• Prepare electrical engineering documentation such as scopes of work.
• Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines for full integration.
• Prepare scopes of work, BOMs, equipment specs and datasheets.
• Develop tender packages and provide electrical input for procurement.
• Review vendor documentation for interface checks and design integration.
• Apply knowledge of SANS and international design codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed electrical engineering designs, power system calculations, and configuration of electrical equipment and systems.
• Ensure all electrical designs meet project specifications, industry codes, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with design and drafting teams to develop electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, single‑line diagrams, and equipment layouts.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines to ensure full integration and alignment across all project systems.
• Prepare comprehensive electrical engineering documentation such as scopes of work, bills of materials, equipment specifications, and technical datasheets.
• Develop and compile technical tender packages and provide electrical engineering input for the procurement of electrical equipment, switchgear, motors, etc.
• Review vendor documentation and distribute relevant information for interface checks and design integration.
• Knowledge of SANS and international design codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent from a reputable institution.
• 3+ years' postgraduate experience in a similar position.
• Registration as an ECSA Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist is advantageous.
• South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Cape Town based
• Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
