Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize PLC-based automation for industrial equipment in Stellenbosch. The role involves developing HMI interfaces, selecting sensors, drives, and safety devices, and integrating new equipment with existing systems.

You will troubleshoot, upgrade controls, and collaborate remotely with production teams to boost efficiency, quality, and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial control and automation engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI software.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for manufacturing equipment and production lines.
• Develop HMI applications for operator control and monitoring of automated processes.
• Specify and integrate electrical components including sensors, actuators, drives, and safety devices.
• Perform root cause analysis on control system failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Provide technical support to maintenance teams and assist in training staff on new control systems.
