FMM is seeking a motivated professional to fill our Electrical Apprentice position.

FMM is a maintenance and construction company servicing both residential and commercial clients nationwide.

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting Electrician in servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing electrical components in a residential or commercial setting. Technician may be assigned to one or multiple jobs and must be available for after-hour emergency calls on occasion.

The person who occupies this position must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such an individual or others in the workplace.

Essential Job Duties:

(Included but not limited to)

1. Planning the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
2. Connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
3. Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
4. Using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
5. Using a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
6. Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
7. Placing conduit and pipes, in walls, or other concealed areas, and pulling insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
8. Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
9. Learning and following directives from leads.

Required Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:

1. Must adhere to safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment.
2. Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and ability to learn client and company policy.
3. Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using FMM's core values of Quality, Teamwork, Pride, Passion, and Integrity.
4. Proficient in computer, text, and email skills.
5. Proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
6. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
7. Experience working with high voltage and low voltage systems.
8. Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
9. Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
10. Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
11. Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.
12. Ability to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
13. Performing electrical inspections and troubleshooting electrical issues.
14. Collaborating with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
15. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a clean work area.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to pass a Fit for Duty Screening.
2. Position will require working in all weather (hot / cold muddy) conditions.
3. High noise environment.
4. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; and working around construction machinery.
5. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
6. Subject to repetitive use of hands / arms, and legs.
7. Hand / eye coordination required.
8. Hearing and comprehension necessary for giving and receiving directions.
9. May operate hand and power tools of all types.
10. Climb and maintain balance on steel / wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
11. Position may require prolonged bending / twisting, walking, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing / pulling, or standing and lifting.

1. Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with management / supervision.
3. Reading and writing comprehension necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and our safety policy.
4. Ability to use math calculations.
5. Must be able to work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions.
6. Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details.
