Job summary

Amaro Foods is seeking a dynamic EHS professional to join our Central Office, Epping. You will implement safety, health and environmental policies, coordinate legal appointments, and lead audits.

You will train staff, conduct investigations, manage EHS documentation, and support continuous improvement in food production settings. A National Diploma in Safety/Environmental Management and 5 years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• National Diploma: Safety Management / Environmental Health / Environmental Management (NQF 6).
• 5 years of experience developing and implementing Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
• Experience in food production/processing.

Responsibilities

• Implement safety, health and environmental policies, standards, procedures and programs.
• Coordinate EHS legal appointment requirements and audits.
• Lead EHS inspections and liaise with management on action plans.
• Investigate accidents and incidents; submit reports to the EHS Manager.
• Train staff on EHS policies, induction and refresher programs.
• Maintain EHS document control and review training manuals.
• Coordinate external training and review contractor EHS compliance.

Job description

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, customer-centric individual to join the Health and Safety Team at our Amaro Foods Central Office, Epping.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implement safety, health and environmental (EHS) policies, standards, procedures, programs, and systems.
2. Coordinate EHS legal appointment requirements.
3. Ensure health and safety and environmental inspections of the workplace and liaise with workplace management on implementation and monitoring plans.
4. Undertake EHS Management System audits.
5. Participate in internal and external EHS audits.
6. Ensure that EHS audit findings are resolved as per the action plan.
7. Participate in EHS-related forums.
8. Participate in ad hoc EHS projects supporting the business's objectives and goals.
9. Document and report near misses, and minor and disabling injuries, as required.
10. Investigate accidents and incidents and submit investigation reports to the EHS Manager.
11. Train staff on EHS policies, procedures, and practices.
12. Ensure that EHS induction for all new employees, contractors, and visitors is completed and periodical refresher training for employees.
13. Provide input in the review of training manuals to ensure the current practice is reflected therein.
14. Conduct educational awareness campaigns through various means and platforms on EHS programs.
15. Coordinate external training where required.
16. Review EHS compliance requirements of contractors before they commence with projects.
17. Implement the EHS document control system.
18. Assist with the administration of COIDA at respective sites.
19. Submit Injury on Duty and Occupational Illnesses documentation as COID Act requires.
20. Liaise with the HR department for staff statistics to update DIFR monthly.
21. Report to EHS Manager monthly / as required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. Minimum: National Diploma: Safety Management / Environmental Health / Environmental Management. (NQF 6)
2. 5 years of experience developing and implementing Health, Safety and Environmental management systems
3. Experience in food production/processing.
