A leading company in East London is seeking an EHS Manager to oversee health and safety management. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety laws, conducting site audits, and managing contractor safety vetting. Qualified candidates must possess relevant Safety Management certifications and have considerable experience in the telecommunications or construction sector.

with Quality, and procedures in support of the clients overall objectives in an efficient and
effective manner.
Contribute EHS Coordinating expertise to various client departments in activities.
Observe mission and core values of client and demonstrate a quality service to others.
NOTE: Own transport and valid Driver’s License essential

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, AMONG OTHERS, THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS:
• EHS vetting of contractors for compliance to perform work for client.
• Perform site audits to monitor the implementation of OHAS Act, Regulations and client
requirements. Also ensure controls are employed and effective. All reports to be saved
on OneBox.
• Periodically assess and report on the supply of the necessary health and safety
equipment and assess the maintenance, as far as reasonably practical, of equipment
to be in a serviceable and hygienic condition. Also ensure that employees are instructed
on the proper use of safety equipment.
• Prepare EHS plans and acquire client approvals prior to projects starting.
• Submit weekly and monthly reports to management regarding status of EHS in project
delivery.
• Ensure maintenance of site files within the projects and ensure that the
relevant records, certificates, etc. are included and up to date, inclusive of ISDP EHS
Smart QC system reviews with regards to subcontractor compliance.
• Identify needs update the training matrix for delivery staff, this include medical fitness
requirements
• Ensure contractor and delivery staff inductions are done periodically.
• Attend Health and Safety Committee meeting where required
• Active participation in contractor forums.
• Perform Accident and Incident Investigations and provide reports. Develop Lessons
Learned for high potential incidents and accidents.
• Enforce all requirements in the 37.2 mandatory agreement.
• Issuing of non-conformances / Scars for deviations identified and
ensuring effective management until close out identified deviations.
• Provide recommendations regarding corrective actions on Safety & Health issues
identified during the audits
• Promote safety awareness to staff and contractors during site visits.
• Assisting in setting clear OHS requirements for contractors.
• Identify statutory & regulatory requirements and any changes, and then communicate
these to responsible persons. Assist in identifying what is needed to comply.
• Assist in revising procedures where required to improve safety and reduce health risks.
• Assist in setting OHS objectives when required.
• Participate in IMS / Client audits and ensure all project delivery to comply
with IMS requirements.
• Identify and control environmental aspects and the impact thereof in the field.
• Review and report on whether the system to identify hazards and assess risks has been
implemented and that the required measures have been instituted to eliminate, control
and mitigate risks.
• Review and report on whether a system is established and maintained to ensure that
an employee’s training and capabilities are considered in respect of health and safety
before a task is assigned to such employee.
• Ensure that periodic PJOs are performed on sites.
• Ensure all EHS project and contractor records are up to date and uploaded on
OneBox
