Job description

A black-controlled energy company committed to a just energy transition. At Seriti, we understand Africa's challenges and are dedicated to providing energy solutions that benefit the continent and local communities. Seriti is a broad-based, 91% black-owned and controlled South African energy company, co-owned by four black anchor shareholders: Masimong Group, Thebe Investments, Zungu Investments (Zico), and Community Investment Holdings (CIH).

Led by Chair Dr. Anna Mokgokong and CEO Mike Teke, our company is guided by a board and management team with extensive experience in acquiring, operating, and developing large-scale, world-class energy solutions.

Initially a coal business, Seriti has evolved into a comprehensive energy company. Coal has historically driven South Africa's industrial development and remains a key part of our energy mix. According to the latest Integrated Resource Plan, coal's share of electricity generation is expected to decrease from about 72% to only 43%, with the remaining 57% coming from solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, and other renewable sources.

We fully support this transition and are committed to actively managing the shift to a lower-carbon future, while preserving livelihoods and unlocking Africa's renewable energy potential.

The Seriti Journey
  1. We are working towards meeting current and future energy demands and transitioning to a low-carbon energy landscape.
  2. We acquired Eskom-tied thermal coal mines from Anglo American, including New Vaal, New Denmark, and Kriel mines, which supply approximately 24 million tonnes per annum of thermal coal to Eskom's power stations.
  3. We completed the acquisition of South32 SAEC, making Seriti a major supplier of thermal coal to Eskom and exporters.
  4. Seriti acquired a majority stake in Windlab Africa's renewable assets, including wind and solar projects, as part of our strategy to reduce our carbon footprint and diversify our energy portfolio.
  5. We are constructing South Africa's largest wind farm in Mpumalanga, with operations expected to commence soon, following the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement for MW of power.
  6. Our Klipspruit Colliery is transitioning from opencast to underground mining, extending its operational life by 25 years, with full production expected by the third quarter of the year.
