Job Description

We're looking for a visionary Head of Data and Analytics to lead our data strategy, drive actionable insights, and champion data-driven decision-making across the business. At iKhokha, we're redefining how SMEs thrive through innovation — and in this role, you'll harness the power of data to help accelerate entrepreneurship and unlock growth for small businesses across South Africa.

What will you do?

As the Head of Data and Analytics, you will be responsible for leading and managing the data and analytics function within our organization. Your primary objective will be to drive data-driven decision-making, develop data strategies, and provide actionable insights to support business growth and optimization. You will lead a team of Data Professionals, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to leverage data and analytics capabilities.

Additional responsibilities include:

1. Developing and implementing a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business goals.
2. Establishing data governance frameworks and policies to ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance.
3. Collaborating with Engineering, Product, Growth, Finance, and Retention Teams to optimize data acquisition, storage, and integration processes.
4. Overseeing the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets to derive actionable insights.
5. Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify data-driven opportunities for optimization and growth.
6. Developing and delivering reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights effectively.
7. Ensuring data-driven decision-making and providing recommendations to key stakeholders.
8. Assessing and optimizing data infrastructure, including data storage, processing, and retrieval systems.
9. Collaborating with teams to ensure the scalability of data platforms and tools.
10. Staying updated with emerging data technologies and trends, making recommendations for adoption.
11. Building and leading a high-performing team of Data Professionals, providing mentorship and fostering an inclusive team culture.
12. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate data and analytics into business processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Deal Breakers: 10+ years' experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a data and analytics function. Strong knowledge of data management, analytics, and visualization tools. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.

Specific Skills and Competencies:

• Expertise in developing and implementing data strategies, including governance and quality.
• Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
• Leadership skills to manage and inspire a team.
• Deep understanding of the organization's industry, goals, and metrics.
• Technical proficiency in tools like SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong project management abilities.
