Job description

The objective of this role is to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the maintenance and engineering department, ensuring the entire complex is structurally sound, all plant and equipment operate at optimal levels, and that safety, security, and health regulations are adhered to.

The role also involves managing the gardens and landscaping of the entire complex.

RESPONSIBILITIES

REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE

  • Plan, organize, delegate, and control all activities of the Repairs and Maintenance Department for the entire complex, including the hotel, rental pool apartments, and body corporate.
  • Create monthly duty rosters for staff, assigning responsibilities and shifts.
  • Administer HR and payroll activities in collaboration with the HR Department.
  • Develop and oversee staff training and development, including mentorship programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the complex to identify and address maintenance, safety, and security issues, ensuring timely and sustainable resolutions.
  • Implement and maintain an annual care plan for rooms, apartments, and public areas, focusing on preventative maintenance during off-peak months.
  • Handle procurement related to repairs, maintenance, safety, and security.
  • Maintain regular inspections of all plant and equipment, including HVAC systems, pumps, chillers, electrical systems, generators, pools, and associated infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High understanding of plant and equipment operation.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and documentation.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working under pressure and independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to property and guest demands.
  • Professional and positive attitude at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher diploma or degree in Engineering or Facilities Management.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar development or estate.
  • Vocational qualification in electrical, plumbing, or similar trades.
  • Competence in computer software, including Microsoft Office; experience with hotel property management software is advantageous.
