Job description

PURPOSE OF ROLEAs the Finance Manager for Financial Accounting, you will be responsible for the full accounting function of our group of companies.

In this role, you will focus on overarching finance operations while working alongside the Finance Manager : Projects Accounting.

You will oversee a team of 6 permanent staff members, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the entire group.

This office-based position in Century City requires commitment to additional hours during month-end periods and as needed to meet deliverables.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASFinancial Operations ManagementServe as the main contact person for finance-related queries across the groupManage the group's accounting department and review the work of bookkeepersManage Account ReceivablesApprove payments and implement process improvements for finance procedures and internal controlsConsolidate group results and prepare month-end financial reports and Executive Committee packsPerform other finance-related duties as requiredOverall financial management of other smaller subsidiariesOverhead BudgetingProvide budgetary input to the Finance Manager : Projects Accounting for the annual budgetTreasury ManagementReview daily and weekly cash flow requirementsManage intercompany loan accounts and repayments to Lesedi Nuclear ServicesEnsure sufficient cash availability in current accounts for paymentsSupport the preparation of cash flow forecasts for the group, with particular focus on overheadsStatutory and Tax ComplianceManage external financial auditsOversee income tax, VAT and employee tax calculations and submissions for all companies in the groupCoordinate filing and reviewing of tax returns with auditorsHandle SARS audits, SARB approvals, and FICA complianceMaintain CIPC updates and declaration of annual dutiesQUALIFICATIONArticles with BCOM Degree in Accounting (understanding of IFRS is crucial)CA (SA) or CIMA qualification (advantageous)EXPERIENCE2 to 4 years post-articles experience, preferably in energy, engineering, construction and / or mining sectorsPractical application of accounting and ERP software in a business environmentAdvanced level experience with Excel spreadsheets and formulas (pivot tables, complex formulas)Experience in consolidations in line with IFRSCOMPETENCIESKnowledgeProven knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)Working knowledge of relevant legislative requirements related to the roleUnderstanding of sound financial management practices including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and controlCash flow management expertiseKnowledge in South African taxSkillsCompetence in financial software applicationsKnowledge of ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP)Advanced computer literacyBehavioursStrong attention to detail and analytical thinkingExcellent problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesHigh degree of integrity to create trust and respect amongst colleaguesLeadership skills to steer staff toward good performance resultsAbility to develop staff members' full potentialFair and objective assessment of staff performanceEffective communication skills to foster team cooperationAccountability and methodical approach to setting objectives and managing timeAbility to establish priorities amidst conflicting internal requirementsCapability to manage a team with multiple competing prioritiesShould you not hear from us within 21 days of the closing of the advert, kindly regard your application to have been unsuccessful.
