Institutional Advancement is committed to enhancing awareness, public support, and funding for the University through strategic alumni relations, communications, development initiatives, and special events.

The Media, Marketing and Communications Office plays a key role in shaping the University’s public image. The team provides high-quality communication services, public relations support, and strategic advice to UWC leadership, helping to strengthen the University’s brand and profile.

We are seeking an organised and proactive administrative assistant to support this dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist with internal and external communication efforts in line with the University’s Institutional Operating Plan, ensuring that all messaging is consistent, brand-aligned, and strategically targeted for the relevant audience.

The successful incumbent is responsible for the following Key Performance Areas:

Provide Communication Support

  • Monitor internal and external communication platforms for relevant content.
  • Distribute approved communications to internal stakeholders via official platforms.
  • Archive media content for easy access and record-keeping.

Provide Project And Campaign Support

  • Assist with planning, tracking and implementing media projects.
  • Support media campaigns by monitoring performance and preparing reports and presentations.
  • Conduct basic research to inform media strategies, including audience and channel analysis.

Content And Creative Support

  • Work with creative teams to produce content for social media, newsletters, and the website.

Administrative Support

  • Schedule meetings, maintain contact lists, and assist with media plan documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day support for media events, campaigns and office operations.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements: (Qualification and Experience)

  • National Higher Certificate or Equivalent qualification at NQF Level 5
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in an advancement, media, marketing, or communications environment.
  • Experience using social media platforms in a professional context, with exposure to content creation, editing or writing for digital or print media.

Required competencies: (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Professional conduct, with an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Ability to use design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud) or content management systems will be an advantage.
