Role Purpose/Business Unit:
Manage all aspects of the regional Transmission network according to specific standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fault Management – localise and repair faults systematically to ensure minimum downtime.
- Performance management – ensure the network performs within the defined KPIs.
- Spares Management – ensure compliance with spares management processes for dimensioning, issuing, returns, and repairs.
- Reports – provide detailed reports on availability, root cause analysis, spares management, and performance.
- Special investigations – engage with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve cross-functional network issues swiftly.
- Design and implement a regional transmission access network strategy.
- Implement new and innovative transmission solutions based on cost, flexibility, speed of implementation, and reliability.
- Support management computers of transmission equipment.
- Conduct high-level tasks for the transmission and data infrastructure – Microwave, Optic, Tellabs 8100; 6300; 8600, and ECI DTX600H product portfolios, primarily for Vodacom intra-regional and regional access transmission network.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Degree/Diploma/T3/S4/N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) – Essential.
- 5 – 8 Years relevant experience.
- Qualification in Projects and Programme Management – Desirable.
- A formal course in Management (e.g., MDP/MDC) – Desirable.
- Transmission Technical Courses – Principles, SDH, GPS Network Synchronization, Optic Fiber Systems – Essential.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- 5 years relevant telecommunications experience.
- 2 years working experience in transmission networks, including equipment installations, infrastructure planning, services planning, configuration, and maintenance.
- At least 2 years supervisory experience – Essential.
- Knowledge of transmission/telecommunications environment, financial principles, systems, administrative processes, and computer applications.
